What happens to your recordings.
In plain language: what we record, where it goes, who processes it, and how to delete it.
When the microphone is on
The microphone starts only when you tap the record button and stops when you tap again, when you reach the time limit, or when you leave the app. Before your first recording, we ask once for your permission to analyse your takes.
What is saved
Each take you record in the coach is uploaded and saved privately to your account, with its transcript, its measurements and your coach's feedback. That's what makes your Replay, your progress and your checkpoints possible. Only you can play your recordings back.
If you try the Voice Snapshot before creating an account, the audio is transcribed and measured but not saved on our servers. A copy stays in your browser, and only the transcript and measurements are kept by us, for 48 hours, so they can become your first Snapshot when you sign up; otherwise they are deleted. When you do sign up, the copy in your browser is uploaded to your account like any other take, so you can replay it and compare it at every checkpoint.
How a take is analysed
Pitch and loudness are measured on your own device. The audio is sent to Deepgram to turn speech into text with word timings. Our app measures pace, pauses and fillers from those timings. The transcript and measurements are then sent to an AI model through OpenRouter to write your feedback. When your coach speaks, that feedback text is turned into speech by Deepgram.
“Hear it better”, example lines, “Ask your coach” and the live conversation partner use a voice AI model from a specialist provider. For “Ask your coach” and the live partner, the question or answer you record is sent. For “Hear it better”, only the sentence text is sent.
To show how you did after a live partner conversation, each answer is also transcribed by Deepgram and measured the same way as a take, and the measurements and your words are sent to the AI model that writes your result. Live partner audio and results aren't saved, and they don't change your levels or streak.
In “Before your big moment”, the first line you say is sent to Deepgram to time your pace, then forgotten: no audio, transcript or take is saved. A meeting debrief is a take like any other, so it's saved to your account and you can replay or delete it.
These providers process your data to run the service, and their own processing and retention policies apply. We don't sell your recordings.
What the coach does not do
It doesn't score your accent, your personality, your emotions or your “confidence”. Feedback is about delivery and clarity, and every point is tied to a moment you can replay, so you can check what it heard. AI can make mistakes, so tap “Not quite” on any feedback that doesn't fit and we'll see it.
Real recordings you upload
If you use “Review a real recording”, only upload your own voice, and only if anyone else who can be heard agreed to be recorded.
Delete or export
Open any recording in your Speech Library and choose Delete to remove its audio and analysis. Deleting your account removes all your recordings and data. You can download a copy of your data from account settings.
