Recording

My microphone won’t start

Tap the record button, then allow microphone access when asked. If you said no before: on iPhone open Settings › SpeakConfident (or Safari › Microphone); on Android open Settings › Apps › SpeakConfident › Permissions; in a browser click the lock icon next to the address bar. Close other apps using the microphone and try again.

How do I get a good recording?

Find a quiet room, hold the phone or sit about an arm’s length from the microphone, and speak at your normal volume. Earbuds with a microphone work well. If the app shows “We can barely hear you”, move closer or turn off a fan or TV nearby.

It says it couldn’t analyse my take

Your recording is kept, so tap Send again. If it keeps failing, check your connection. Very short or very quiet takes can’t be measured, so say at least two or three sentences, close to the microphone. A take that couldn’t be measured doesn’t use up your free reps.

Can I practise offline?

You can record, but the analysis needs a connection. If you lose signal after recording, the app keeps your take and sends it once you’re back online.

Which devices can I use?

SpeakConfident works in a web browser and in the iPhone and Android apps. Sign in with the same email, Google or Apple account and your takes, levels and streak are there on every device.

Coaching and progress

What’s the difference between a take and a rep?

A take is one recording. A rep is the full exercise: a short idea, take 1, your Replay and coach notes, then take 2 with the fix. So one rep is two takes, and it takes about four minutes.

How does the coach decide what to fix?

Each take is measured for pace, pauses, fillers, melody and punch. The coach picks the one thing that matters most for today’s rep and quotes your own words, so you can check exactly what it heard. On the message chapters (Structure, Story, Say Less and The Room), it looks at your message first, then your delivery. AI can be wrong, so tap “Not quite” on feedback that doesn’t fit.

What do the levels mean?

Each skill has a level from 1 to 10 based on your typical take over the last five, so one lucky take doesn’t move it. A level starts rising after three measured takes, and never goes down. Your rank rises when you finish a chapter’s checkpoint.

I missed a day. Did I lose my streak?

A single missed day is covered automatically by a streak freeze, and you get two a month. On a busy day, a 60-second warm read is enough to keep the streak going.

I have an accent, or English isn’t my first language

That’s fine. The coach never scores your accent or your pronunciation. It works on pace, pauses, fillers, melody and punch, which help any listener. If you speak carefully, switch on “Relaxed pace target” on your account page in the app, so the coach doesn’t push you to speed up.

Plans and account

What’s free and what’s Pro?

Free includes your Voice Snapshot, Chapter 1, daily warm reads, one Think on your feet question a day, the Gym's big-moment routine and 60-second calm, 3 interview questions to try, and 4 coached reps (8 takes) a week. Pro unlocks all ten chapters, unlimited coaching, the full interview bank, Ask your coach, Prepare, meeting debriefs, real-recording review and the live partner. Saving your first Snapshot gives you 7 days of Pro for free.

How do subscriptions and cancellation work?

On the web, manage your plan in account settings. In the app, subscriptions are handled by the App Store or Google Play, so cancel or restore purchases there. You keep your recordings and progress on the free plan.

I need help signing in

Use Forgot password on the login screen for an email account, or the same Google or Apple sign-in you used before. Email links expire, so request a fresh one if you need to.

Privacy and data

Where are my recordings?

Every take is saved privately to your account. Open Your Voice › Speech Library to replay any recording with its Replay and coach notes, or to delete it.

How do I delete my recordings or my account?

To remove one recording, open it in your Speech Library and choose Delete. That removes its audio and analysis. To remove everything, delete your account from account settings. You can also download a copy of your data there first.

Can I use a keyboard or screen reader?

Yes. Every control has a label and visible focus, the Replay timeline works with arrow keys, and changes like recording, analysing and feedback ready are announced. Tell us if anything gets in your way.
